Handbuilt AI is one person. This is him.

I’m Pavneet Singh. I run a cedar-fence company in South Surrey, I build software, and I install AI receptionists and admin systems for contractors and local service businesses around Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.

I built an AI receptionist for my own business line before I offered one to anybody else — which is also how I learned what it gets wrong.

where this is up to

I don’t have client case studies yet. Here’s what I do have.

Most agencies open with a wall of logos. I can’t, because this is new and the honest number of contractor clients I’ve delivered for is small. Inventing a testimonial would be the fastest way to lose the kind of customer I want, and every contractor I’ve met can smell a fake number from across a parking lot.

What I can do is show you three systems that are live right now, tell you exactly how they were built and tested, and let you talk to the receptionist yourself before you give me your name.

what I have actually built

Three systems I run myself.

No client logos and no testimonials — I don’t have clients yet, and I’m not going to invent them. What I can show you is software that is live right now, most of it holding up my own businesses.

Live

Live · my own fence company

The problem
I run a cedar-fence business in South Surrey. On a post-hole day nobody answers the phone, and a quote that goes quiet is a job someone else does.
What I built
The back office first: a quote form that emails me and fails loudly instead of silently, and a self-hosted AI phone receptionist that I put on the real business line in July.
What it connects to
Python · pipecat · Asterisk · VoIP.ms · a quote form wired to email
How it was tested
A 7-suite check runs over the site before anything ships, and the receptionist has its own automated test suite.
Who controls it
It is my number and my line. On 27 August I took the AI back out of the call path while I rebuild the call flow — which is the honest state of it today, and the reason I will not tell you an AI receptionist is finished the day it answers its first call.

Live

Live · my own product

The problem
Small businesses that hire subtrades have to keep every vendor's insurance certificate current, and they find out it lapsed when something has already gone wrong.
What I built
Upload a certificate, confirm the fields it read back, then get reminded 30, 14 and 7 days before it expires. Two scheduled jobs do the chasing.
What it connects to
Next.js · Supabase · Stripe · Resend · two daily crons
How it was tested
A large automated test suite, including a set of deliberately awkward PDFs the reader has to refuse rather than guess at.
Who controls it
Free for the first handful of vendors, then a flat monthly price.

PayNudge

Live

Live · my own product

The problem
Service businesses send an invoice and then feel rude about chasing it, so it sits there.
What I built
Reminders on day 1, day 3 and day 7 that stop the moment the invoice is paid — so nobody gets nagged after paying.
What it connects to
Syncs with Jobber, QuickBooks, Square and Stripe · scheduled jobs
How it was tested
Its own automated test suite, run before each deploy.
Who controls it
One plan, one flat monthly price in CAD.

Everything else on this site that looks like a customer story is an illustration, and it is labelled as one. When there is a real one, it will have a name on it.

how I work

Six things you can hold me to.

You talk to the person building it

The first conversation, the workflow map, the build, the testing and the handover are all me. Nothing gets passed to someone who has never spoken to you, because there is nobody else to pass it to.

A fixed CAD quote before any work starts

We agree the scope and the number first. If the scope grows, we agree that too, in writing, before I build it. No hourly drip and no surprise invoice at the end.

It runs inside the accounts you already have

Your phone number, your calendar, your CRM, your inbox. I am not trying to move you onto a platform I control, and you can export or switch it off without asking me first.

Tested on real calls before you rely on it

Every build gets run against the awkward cases — the caller who mumbles the address, the one who wants a price I can't give, the one who asks for a human. I would rather find those before your customers do.

I tell you what it can't do

An AI receptionist will not close a complex quote, and it should not pretend to be a person. Where a build has a limit, you'll hear about the limit from me before you pay for it.

No invented proof, ever

No stock testimonials, no borrowed client logos, no statistic I didn't measure myself. When I have a customer result worth showing, it will have a real name attached to it.

how it works

Three steps. Usually live in about a week.

No new platform for your crew to learn. Nothing changes hands except the work coming off your plate.

what you actually get

A system that runs in your accounts, a number to judge it by, and a person to call when it needs changing.

  • Your accounts, your data, your number
  • Export any time
  • Cancel any time — it keeps running

  1. 01

    Find the leak

We go through your calls, quotes and the admin that eats your evenings, and put a number on what's actually leaking.

  2. 02

    Install the workflow

Built around your real services, prices and calendar — inside your accounts, with your phone number. Tested before it answers a single customer.

  3. 03

    Measure what changed

A plain monthly note: calls answered, quotes followed up, work recovered. If it isn't earning, we say so.

next step

Try it first. Talk to me second.

The demo asks you for nothing. If it does something useful, tell me what you’re trying to stop losing and I’ll tell you whether it’s worth building — including when the answer is no.

I read every one myself and reply within one business day — there is no calendar to book and no sales team to get past.
